Fees and Funding
Fee schedule - 2024
Initial appointments - $290.99. This includes a parent / carer meeting, a written report, therapy plan and goals.
Ongoing appointments - $193.99 for all home and school-based sessions, and tele-health sessions.
Comprehensive Sensory Assessment - $484.98. This includes a Sensory Profile 2, or Adolescent / Adult Sensory Profile (depending on age); a routines based parent / carer interview; a written report and recommendations.
Comprehensive Handwriting Assessment - $484.98 including a DASH (Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting) or DASH17+ (for young people aged 17 and older), Handwriting Speed Test, and handwriting observations.
Comprehensive Functional Assessment - $581.97. This includes a parent / carer meeting, a school visit to complete a classroom observation, and a written report. This report may be useful if you are seeking funding under the NDIS scheme, and you require a professional’s assessment (please note this is not something that is always required, and we recommend you contact the NDIS for information if you are not sure what you need).
NDIS review reports - $387.98 (available for ongoing clients of Happy Kids OT only).
Travel fees may apply in addition to therapy and assessment fees - this will always be made transparent before commencing services. Travel fees vary depending on your location.
Funding Options
Happy Kids Occupational Therapy is a registered provider with Medicare. Although we are not a registered NDIS provider, if you are self or plan-managed we can work with you to provide services using your plan. Further information on fees and funding is included below. Please note that this is intended as general information only. To find out if your child is eligible for each specific funding plan, speak to your GP, or contact the funding provider. Whilst all care has been taken to access the most up to date information, please check with Medicare regarding the current rebates for each type of funding plan.
Medicare Funding
Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) - This plan provides 10 individual sessions per year with mental health endorsed allied health clinicians, with a rebate of $100.30 per session through Medicare. These sessions can be face-to-face or tele-health sessions (please note that remote sessions need to include both audio and video link as a requirement). To access this funding or to find out if you are eligible, see your General Practitioner, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist for a referral.
Chronic Disease Management Plan - This plan provides 5 individual sessions per year with registered allied health clinicians, with a rebate of $55.10 per session. To access this funding or find out if you are eligible, see your General Practitioner or Paediatrician for a referral.
Helping Children with Autism Plan - This plan provides 4 sessions with a registered allied health clinician to support with the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. After a diagnosis is made, up to 20 rebated sessions are available per child in total. After the initial 10 sessions have been completed, an evaluation will need to be completed by the referring doctor to determine eligibility for the remaining 10 sessions. The referral for this plan needs to be completed before an individual’s 25th birthday (this has been increased from 13th birthday on 1st March 2023). A rebate of $77.80 is available for these sessions. To access this plan, see your child’s Paediatrician for a referral.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Funding
Happy Kids Occupational Therapy are currently able to work with children who have self-managed or plan-managed NDIS plans only. At this stage we are not a registered provider, and therefore we are not able to work with children who have an NDIS-managed plan. Please visit the NDIS website for information on how to apply.
Private Health Insurance
Depending on your Private Health Insurance provider, they may cover Occupational Therapy services. You will need to speak to your provider to determine if OT is covered for your child on an individual basis.
